  OCTOBER FEST FOR FOODIES

Hip Hip Hooray! Kohler Food and Wine starts October 23rd through the 25th. Check out famous chefs from around the country. I am personally really excited to experience the flavors of: Jacques Pepin,  Mindy Segal owner of Mindy Hot Chocolate which is located just south of the border and to round things out Scott Conant chef and owner of Scarpetta. Robert and I have made this a go to event for the last several years. If you have a love for food , wine and great people watching, this is a must.

Bon A petite!

  NO GRINCH THIS CHRISTMAS

Sunday  Sunday  Sunday is usually football night in America but since the Pack plays on Monday we decided it was the perfect day to trim our tree. I am sure I am not alone in saying this can be one of the most stressful tasks a couple can take on. That being said my husband said " this is going to be fun". He did all the prep  work on Saturday. Really? I walked into the living room and half the tree wasn't lit, we were short at least 25yrds of garland. But remember," this  is going to be fun". I took a deep breath and said lets just move the tree to the corner of the room. No one will even notice we  are short 25yrds of garland. He replaced the bulb he was suppose to replace  last year and at the same time we both shouted "Let there be light"!  My ten footer is up without a single argument but as you can see in the picture....... my hubby exhuasted!

UNLIKE MOST GRANDPARENTS WHO CODDLE AND HUG AND EAGERLY RETURN THEIR GRANDCHILDREN TO THEIR PARENTS, WE CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE THE EXCITEMENT AND ENERGY BACK INTO OUR HOME. NEXT STOP THE OZAUKEE HUMANE SOCIETY!

  Game Day Chili

Packers/Texas Chili

Getting ready for another must win game on a cold Sunday morning, we decided to have a chili party at our house. We started early Sunday morning prepping all the veggies and Beef. Now this is the  real deal. Texas style chili means NO BEANS. The ingredients are:5 poblanos, 4 onions,  8 lbs of Beef yes, I did say 8lbs of beef and plenty of spices. From that point on keep it low and slow for 5 hours. If the Pack have a repeat performance you can count on a Party at the Ziats!!!!!!!!!!! GO PACK GO!!

Big shout out to my Friend Michele for this fabulous recipe. BTW we are always looking for great game feasting recipes soooooooooooooo please feel free to forward any recipes to LindaZ@fayes123.com. Go foodies!

  Rainy days and Sunday

So I walked into work today and we started our morning out with the usual, "How was your weekend?" Tiff talked about  the great dinner she made,  Michelle K. talked about the wedding she attended and the fabulous prime  rib they served.  That  is when I burst into an uncontrolable laugh...

Should I or shouldn't I? What the heck, we all could use a good laugh...

On Sunday morning the rain was coming down and it looked as if it wasn't going to end anytime soon. I said, "Looks like it's going to be a PJ's kinda' day." For those of you that know me, that is not a pretty picture. Poured myself a cup of coffee, and then I scanned the pantry...not looking so good. Ah hah! Rosemary toast with olive oill. Perfect. Noon rolls around and I decided that rosemary toast , olive oil and a little of parm will do the trick. Pack game is on...it is now around 2:30 and figured it's 5:00 somerwhere. So, I poured my self a glass of vino. Had yet another slice of toast and rounded  out my carb filled diet with an enitre box of sour candy. So I did not hit the latest and greatest restaurant in town, or file through my endless receipts but I had a FABULOUS CARB FILLED DAY!

Diet. anyone?

  The ER

So my husband and I made it a point to spend last week at the “ER” – Not that ER but The ER that Means Eagle River – It’s not your Lake Country Living or Ozaukee Co. Living but Gods Country Times 10! After amere 4 hourdrive to the “ER” we joined our friends Paul and Leslie at their Beautiful Lake home on the river Chain of Lakes. We took out the pontoon,or as we now refer to it(asthe song states)“On The Pontoon, had drinks before dinner at a nearby resort, and had a fab dinner of lobster and crab and great wine!! Of course the men wanted to go on a Night Cruise but they were given the Look and that ended that. Saturday we hung out until Boat Time which is 11AM. How bad can a Saturday be with great friends, great music and cold beverages! They say you never can escape the “quan”, and it is so true. We dropped anchor next to a group of youngsters playing Frisbee while enjoying a few cold ones. The chatting began. “OMG I have the same ring as you, where did you get it?” “OMG I live in Mequon”, I am sure you get the picture. Saturday night another fab dinner with plenty of  wine  hanging out with friends until the wee hours!! Sunday is the Big Day, The BAND is playing on the deck of the local golf course that we dock  across from the Chanteclair where you can order your hot dog burnt! Don’t ask just order it that way. This is where the locals hang out along with world travelers who fly in on there Hydro plane for the  weekend. We later hooked up with a friend of a friend who just purchased a brand new pontoon, that can handle 55MPH  and turns on a dime, think hover craft! Monday morning we head back thru the frozen tundra of GB! Like the saying goes “Good food, good friends, good fun!” We had another wonderful weekend up at the “ER”…George Clooney would be jealous!!!!!!!!!

  KC BBQ

So how Far would you Travel for some exceptional BBQ ?? 10 Miles ? 50 Miles ? Your own Backyard? Well my Husband and I recently went as far as Auburn Hills MI. Let me explain, My Husband works for a Company whose Main Office is located just outside of the Suburban Detroit Area. There was an Annual KC BBQ Society State Cook-off held in June. The Person who entered works as a Mapping Geo Tech Guru for his company, Doug has appeared also on the Food Network in a Series called Chopped – Masters of the Grill.  So My Husband and I took off for the Weekend to meet some of his Folks that work for him as well as to have some BBQ. Let me just state for the record it was outstanding. Not only was there plenty to Eat and Drink but seeing the intensity of everyone right before Turn In of their BBQ Boxes is fun!! Constant Time Checks 4 Minutes, 2 Minutes, last minute tweaks of Rub or the Brush of minimal Sauce on the pieces of Meat!! Between the Turn Ins of course we Ate the leftovers, Not your ordinary leftovers mind you!! Lollipop Smoked Chicken Legs, Pulled Pork, Ribs that were not falling of the Bone but tender to the Bite! And of Course Brisket that melts in your mouth Goodness!!  BY the way Doug finished 4th Overall in the competition and 2nd in Chicken!!! He was not happy with his Ribs but they were as good or better than most Restaurants serve! My Hubby Mr. LZ as Lo likes to refer to him has all of Doug’s  Rubs and I will confess the Hot Salt Rub tastes great on Popcorn!! The next time you see smoke in Cedarburg it may be in our backyard as my hubby tries to perfect his BBQ Smoking Skills!!

I am in LOVE with the fact that my home town of Cedarburg has a spice store.  I’m all about Penzey’s!  And I am not the only one.  I just read this in an article.  “Besides the obvious freshness factor, there’s variety, cost and expertise of the swamis of spice”.  I need time when I go there because I just love to see all the different varieties and the scents of the store.  Fire up the grill and spice it up!

  Jewelry

Why are pieces of jewelry so powerful? Because they generate interest, add drama and infuse and outfit with color. And today, faux is as fashionable as fine,so you can dazzle without breaking the bank. Yet accessorizing can seem daunting. Where should jewelry fall on your neckline? How many bracelets are too many? I love jewelry and I think Fayes has something for everyone. Stop in soon check it out.

  A Christmas Carol

For as long as I can remember it's always been a Christmas tradition for our family to see "A Christmas Carol" preformed on stage. It's something I've looked forward to ever since I was a kid. Some might think it would get boring seeing the same play over and over again ever year, but for me I can always find something new to enjoy.  Actors will change year to year along with sets, scenes, and the costumes. The play itself is always enjoyable along with spending time with my family during the holidays.

  THe Pink Fountain

There are days like any other days routines become boring matter of fact. We take for granted details small and large, then a day like Sunday comes upon some of us. Being a part of the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure this past Sunday with my husband Robert was every bit the opposite of matter of fact, routine, or just another day. Seeing so many happy faces, celebrating life, and their ability to win their unique battle is truly amazing. Young and Old , were all there with family, friends and people just wanting to support this truly worthy cause was as uplifting as anyone could get. As a 2 year survivor of breast cancer I am blessed and have the tremendous  support of my Fayes Family along with my own family and friends.  Each Day is not boring run of the mill. Sunday was just the ever reminder of that!!!!

  the state of jeans

From Emily Current and Merritt Elliott (of Current/Elliot onthe state of denim)

"Both the baggy boyfreind style and the skinny legging are here to stay. Skinny jeans will  live as long as boots are around.Print and pattern and color look better on the skinny jeans. The the boyfreind fit is very democratic and goes well withother styleof shoes and tops. As the market swings one way the tastemakers will want what's not available."

The Oscars are six days away, and you know what that means: only one more week to see every major nominee, in order to appropriately cheer, jeer, and second-guess on Sunday night.   I will either wear my hard tail hoodie & yoga pant or I’d rather lie around in a ball gown on my couch with my girlfriends- what will you be wearing??

  Leaving on a Jet Plane

The Code.... for those of you who don't know what I am referring to, the Code is my youngest son. He just turned 22  on Dec 31st! Yikes, am I really that old! The Code is your typical college student. Misses his first flight home, sleeps until 1:00, eats, sleeps and on occasion will take a shower. Now we are three weeks into Winter break and he informs me that he wants me to change his plane ticket!  Is he crazy? The original ticket was $350.00. round trip. If I was a "Good  Mother" the change would ONLY end up costing  me $945.00. The truth be known. I would love nothing more than to have my son home for a few more days. Well, after just looking into his bedroom, I think I should get him on the next plane out of here! LOL. I now understand why we all need some retail therapy!

   The Hunt

There isn't a week that goes by when some calls or stops in to ask about a REALLY good consignment shop. Well I  have done by homework. It might not be local but it is truly worth 30 minutes every Wednesday evening. Everyone has to check out  Fashion Hunters on Bravo. OMG let me tell you about one of my favorite episodes.  So this lady brings in a Issey Miyake 2 piece outfit and it turns out the outfit was stolen. Seriously CSI and Fashion all in one episode. After this episode I convinced my co-worker Tiffany that it is time to walk on the darker side and watch  Reality  TV.

Ok so you all know  how much I love reality TV. My co-workers might even tell you that I am obsessed. Let the truth be known! I  love watching the series because it is so fun, and so rewarding to see all of our stuff being exchanged in the hands of these crazy women. It seems like I see something that's at Faye's during every episode! So, to put it quite simply...you don't have to live in Orange County, New York or New Jersey to have the latest and greatest. It's right here in your own back door. Come in and check it out for yourself!

  LZ'S WEEKLY DISH!

Our JPK Paris 75 handbags have caught the eye of every one. If you stopped in our Mequon store this last weekend you know EXACTLY what we're talking about...the colorful beauties that were hanging front and center!

Michele Albert is liking all the new maxi dresses we got in last week. Some customers have said they look too flowy on the hanger, but try them on with shoes and  jewelry and it makes all the difference.  Also don’t forget our new $89.00 jean jacket (loving that)...it’s perfect to pair with them.

TLC  has a crush on the new Aviva Rose Jewelry. After all...diamonds are a girls best friend.

Last but not least...I L-O-V-E the new Miilla tops and dresses they are so pretty!!!. The KLD Signature Tops are also a fav on my list...the water color top is number one.

Until next week my friends!

  LZ'S WEEKLY DISH!

We LOVE the Fifteen Twenty floral tops. Our customers are asking for prints, and now they have them. Floral for spring has been spotted in lots of magazine editorials and now everyone wants in on the Floral Action!

Can you say DENIM JACKETS? We have tons! Short...long...different washes.

The new Theory collection (that's in Brookfield til April 3rd for the Theory event) has beautiful colors and fit!
The tops and dresses in their pink rose colored silk are so AMAZING. Lots of suiting pieces (pants, jackets, blouses) to choose from, too.

New TOMS are soo cool for spring and summer. Everyone is loving the espardrille wedge. Comfort and cuteness!

New Missoni (that's in Mequon til April 3rd for the Missoni event) is so refreshing and gorgeous. They even came up with their version of a maxi skirt....it's beautiful...we die.

Joe's Jeans in the light washes are a huge hit...we won't be giving these jeans the boot!
