  LOTTO

Who's ready for the POWERBALL tonight??? $1.5 billion anyone???

The staff at Faye's is entering in a POWERBALL POOL. $10 bucks a person, and we will split the earnings evenly. Personally, I plan to retire to Florida with my dog, Stanlee. (Boca, Miami, haven't decided yet... have heard Naples is also nice)

WISH US LUCK!!!!!!!

Fun fact: 6 states in the US ban anything Lotto related. Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, and Utah don't have state lotteries, and therefore do not sell Powerball or any other multi-state lotto games. (Source: time.com) I won't be moving there...

Designer of the Week: Sam Edelman

The Sam Edelman shoe collection represents fashion-forward footwear, influenced by runways around the world, at an attainable price-point.  Edelman’s must-have shoes are creative, imaginative, on-trend, and comfortable. They can be seen everywhere, from the top fashion magazines to the feet of the hottest celebrities.

Since the beginning of his career, Sam Edelman has made significant contributions to the footwear industry. Edelman had tenure with Ralph Lauren as a licensee;  as an executive at Candies; and as co-founder of Kenneth Cole. His first monumental success was building Esprit into one of the most iconic junior footwear brands. In 1987, he and his wife, Libby, launched their own junior footwear company, Sam & Libby. After selling Sam & Libby, Sam Edelman retired,  pursuing his passion as a horse-breeder and trainer.

But, Sam Edelman’s retirement was short lived. He quickly recognized a void in the footwear market: a need for the “hottest trends from runways around the world but at a price-point every woman could afford.” This void was soon filled by the Sam Edelman shoe collection in 2004.

Currently, Sam Edelman is President of Sam Edelman, based in Manhattan.  He has been described as “A creative visionary and legend in the footwear industry… a dominant force in fashion, making an indelible impact on some of the most renowned contemporary footwear brands over the past 30 years.”

In 2012, Sam Edelman introduced a junior footwear line, Circus by Sam Edelman. Circus is a playful, more youthful interpretation of the iconic Sam Edelman brand. Circus embodies the same  trend-driven aesthetic, synonymous with the Edelman name. The Circus girl is a bit of a rebel, she lives for fashion but plays by her own rules. The addition of “Circus” earned Sam Edelman the title of “Footwear News’ Brand of the Year” in 2012.

Faye’s women’s clothing boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon have a vast assortment of Sam Edelman and Circus by Sam Edelman shoes in stock! From flats, to heels, to wedges, to sandals, they are sure to satisfy your every shoe need! Other major shoe brands currently at Faye’s include Vince, Tory Burch, Marc Joseph, Superga, Seychelles, and A7EIJE.

Yours in the hottest footwear around,

Maggie

Designer of the Week: M Missoni

Missoni is one of the best known, loved, and recognized fashion lines in the world.

M Missoni is a line dedicated to the chic and sophisticated woman who likes the Missoni style at a lower threshold price.

Missoni style is the result of a business partnership between husband and wife, Tai and Rosita Missoni. In the early 1960’s, they launched a knitwear business and were soon at the cutting edge of Italian fashion. The Missoni’s introduced an unmistakable way of dressing and living “with a colorful ‘put-together’ of zigzag motifs, stripes, waves and slub yarns in a patchwork of geometric and floral jacquards.” Their daughter, Angela, became Creative Director of M Missoni. (M Missoni is managed by Valentino Fashion Group.)

M Missoni’s signature style, color palette, patterns, and prints are inspired by figurative and abstract motifs from nature, art, architecture, and different cultures. Angela Missoni explains, "I have conceived the M Missoni line as a collection of wearable pieces, easy to mix and match; pieces that women can wear around the clock, that last in their wardrobe. Made with practical, comfortable materials, they are designed to be worn and reinvented season after season."

The collection provides women with a total lookthat is recognizable on an international level. Casual, cool and chic, the brand has a global appeal thanks to its wearability, versatility, and distinctive style.

M Missoni can be found at Faye’s women’s clothing boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon. Our Brookfield location will be hosting an M Missoni event this week: April 23-26.

Yours in totally groovy knits,

Maggie

Designer of the Week: Lafayette 148

Lafayette 148 New York is designed for the sophisticated, modern woman and her varied lifestyle. The name, Lafayette 148 New York, comes from its Manhattan street address. This address is home to the company’s vertical headquarters: design, merchandising, marketing, and the showroom are housed under one roof, a rarity in today’s market.

Lafayette 148 New York is led by Creative Director, Edward Wilkerson. His team is on a never-ending quest to continuously evolve color, fabric, and silhouette. Each season they deliver a strong creative vision to “capture their signature understated elegance.” Lafayette sources only the best quality European fabrics, resulting in exceptional visual appeal and fit. Lafayette 148 New York truly offers something for every woman, featuring PETITE, MISSY, and WOMEN’S sizing.

Value and integrity are of utmost importance to Lafayette 148 New York.  Lafayette principal,  Shun Yen Siu, founded the “School of Dreams” in 2007. He had returned to his hometown of Shantou, China, only to discover that the children of the community did not have access to public schooling! Siu renovated an existing private school, and gave all children access to a safe learning environment. The school is only minutes away from Lafayette’s production headquarters in China. Many of the production staff have children that attend the School of Dreams. Siu’s philosophy for the school mirrors his company values,  “Quality on the inside will reflect everywhere else.” He continues to find ways to improve both his brand, and his school alike.  Talk about giving back!

Lafayette 148 New York can be found at Faye’s women’s clothing boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon. Both stores will be hosting Lafayette trunk shows this week. James, our brand representative, will be joining us for the trunk shows!

  DESIGNER OF THE WEEK: SAFIA

Los Angeles native, Safia Day, has been creating and designing fine jewelry since 2001. Her goal is to create beautiful jewelry that brings out the innate elegance in women.

Safia jewelry is made primarily of natural materials. Rubies, sapphires, and emeralds are just a few semi-precious stones used in Safia's stunning creations. Her handcrafted designs are a fusion of styles‚ traditions and nature.

The unique, intricate jewelry sold itself.  Her reputation spread among Hollywood stylists and their celebrity clientele. Safia's jewelry can be spotted on celebs such as Halle Berry, Kate Hudson, Scarlet Johansson, and Uma Thurman. The most important thing I came away with was the realization that beauty is a feeling. One that elevates you. And in the right form it can be everlasting. That’s the idea behind every single piece of jewelry I create."

Designer of the Week: MiH Jeans

MiH Jeans is a distinctive denim collection based is Britain. MiH (Made in Heaven) embodies the relaxed and assured spirit of blue-jean culture. The collection’s hallmarks are perfect fit, authentic detailing, and innovative washes.

Chloe Lonsdale founded MiH in 2006. She also serves as Chief Creative Officer. She earned her fashion degree from Central St. Martins in London and trained at Nicole Farhi. Lonsdale grew up with denim in her veins. She takes after her father, Tony Lonsdale, denim legend. He started the legendary Jean Machine stores in the seventies.  Her mother is top denim model, Chekkie Maskell. Her parents met  at one of his catalog shoots.  The denim legacy goes back even further as Chloe’s grandfather launched the original Made In Heaven in 1969. His denim was favored by Jane Birkin and Farah Fawcett

MiH makes a portion of their jeans in selvedge denim, a fabric valued by die-hard jean fans. This vintage-type denim is  woven onheritage  shuttle looms, and rope-dyed “the old fashioned way”  to a rich indigo.  This traditional way of making jeans results in an authentic, worn look. They feel divine, and age beautifully.

MiH fabrics come from Europe, Turkey and Japan. The jeans are made in established, family run factories with the highest social and environmental standards.

Today’s MiH devotees include Sarah Jessica Parker, Claudia Schiffer, Rachel Weisz, Jennifer Lawrence, and Julianne Moore.

MiH jeans can be found at Faye’s women’s clothing boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon.

  Designer of the Week Lincolnkelly

Have you noticed the beautiful scarf collections at Faye’s women’s clothing boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon, WI? Among the stunning florals, landscapes, animal, and geometric motifs, Lincolnkelly scarves stand out.

Lincolnkelly was founded in 2010. Designer, Peter Litzau, attributes his craftsmanship to his tenure at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Maryland Institute College of Art. His focus on detail and design is second to none.

Inspiration
Litzau’s print/color inspiration comes from global landscapes and scenery: waves on Moreton Bay off Brisbane; industrial roof tops in Yokohama, Japan; lagoons in Louisiana; skeleton trees in Gove, Australia; tulips growing in Bordeaux.

Georg Gerster Collection
The Georg Gerster Collection is one that Litzau is extremely proud of. The inspiration came from Litzau’s exposure to aerial photographs by Georg Gerster in his book, Amber Waves of Grain.  Litzau explains  “they were amazing at first sight, and I couldn't help but imagine them as beautiful fabrics.”

Lincolnkelly at Faye’s
As I write this, I am wearing the “Efflorescence” scarf (pictured above), from the Georg Gerster Collection. This piece was inspired by wheat fields near Katanning, Australia. Let me tell you, this scarf feels GREAT. The balanced weave of high quality cashmere and silk is soft, elegant, lightweight, and drapes wonderfully.

A beautiful scarf is a great way to turn a simple outfit into an elegant ensemble.

Faye’s women’s clothing boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon are the only stores in Wisconsin to carry the Lincolnkelly scarves.

Yours in luxury scarves,

Maggie

Designer of the Week: WHITE & WARREN

White and Warren is a luxury cashmere brand, created in 1997. White and Warren blends classic and contemporary styles to appeal to a modern day wearer. The innovative technological details mixed with its (sometimes) unexpected design is what sets White andWarren apart. Top that with its impeccable craftsmanship, and you have the White and Warren brand.

The most iconic piece by White and Warren is the Travel Wrap. The 100% Cashmere Travel Wrap is season-less and oh-so practical. Throw it over a sundress on a chilly spring day. Wear it over your shoulders in your air-conditioned office. Wear it as a blanket on that early morning flight. Wear it as your winter scarf with your down jacket. Celebrities have even been spotted wearing it as a shawl on the red carpet. The travel wrap is available in over fifteen different colors. You can find the Travel Wrap, and many other stunning White and Warren pieces year round at Faye’s women’s clothing boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon.

2015 Spring Weight Cashmere Collection

White and Warren has just introduced its' 2015 Spring Weight Cashmere line. The idea came from a desire to integrate beautiful Cashmere pieces into a wearable Spring wardrobe.

The collection focuses on pieces that still offer the warmth and yumminess of Cashmere, without being too heavy for a breezy day at the beach. To obtain this ideal, light-weight fabric, it is knit on a tighter gauge than your standard cashmere. The finer yarn allows for an airy, easy drape that is desirable for spring.

The colors seen in this collection are a mix of vibrant heathers. The color palate inspiration comes from the California surf culture in the 70s and 80s. Some of shades are slightly faded, evoking sun-kissed softness. Others are bright and vibrant. Take your pick!

Spring 2015 Event at Faye’s

Faye’s women’s clothing boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon are having a White and Warren event THIS WEEK, March 12th-15th . Love what you see?  You wear it home!  Cash ‘n Carry.

Yours in Cashmere (and Travel Wraps),

Maggie

  Designer of the Week: MOTHER

NEW spring styles of Mother premium denim have arrived at Faye’s Women’s Boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon!

“It takes a lot to get a girl out of leggings and back into jeans!” – Tim Kaeding of Mother

Mother Denim was founded in 2010 by Tim Kaeding and Lela Tillem Becker.  Prior to Mother, Kaeding was Creative Director/Designer for 7 for All Mankind. Partner, Lela Tillem Becker, was president of sales and marketing at Citizens for Humanity.  The two started out as competitors and ended up as business partners.

Mother Denimpushes the technological boundaries of fabric, resulting in its signature soft denim. Fibers typically used in knits are incorporated into the denim, creating the unparalleled softness. The denim is then treated with “secret” fabric finishes. The fit is contemporary, but also features stretch, for a snug and flattering look. Mother is made-in-L.A, which gives it a leg up (literally) compared to its(non-USA) competitors.

The brand’s personality is cheeky, dubbing styles “The Dropout Boyfriend,” “The Groupie,” and “The Muse.”Styles currently offered at Faye’s Women’s Boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon include Skinny, Boyfriend, and Straight/Skinny styles. More are on their way from LA as I write this!

Mother has been featured in Vanity Fair, Vogue, and People Stylewatch Magazine. Celebrity wearers include Kate BosworthHeidi Klum and Alessandra Ambrosio.

P.S. Why the name, Mother?  Kaeding says, “Mother comes from a word as loaded with innuendo as it is unconditional love.”

Yours in denim,

Maggie

Designer of the Week: ATELJE 71

ATELJÉ 71 is the newest shoe line available at Faye’s women’s boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon. Think New York meets Sweden, and you have ATELJÉ 71.

Styles range from strappy flat sandals with neoprene trim, to perforated suede sneaker-bootie, to sneaker-sandals with heavy chain detail. The brand pushes the envelope style-wise, while considering comfort and practicality.

Why the name, ATELJE 71? Ateljé is the Swedish word for artist studio. Seventy one (71) is the year husband/wife founders, Åsa Larsson and David Giordano, were born. Larsson is Swedish, and Giordano is a New Yorker. They describe their collection as “New York-positioned, Swedish-motivated, and aims to combine an urban edge with the latter nation’s notions of utility, comfort, and ease.”

Co-Founder, David Giordano is former Creative Director of Parisian-inspired shoe brand Pour La Victoire. Giordano is fluent in the shoe ‘biz. His career skyrocketed when he was approached by Sam and Libby Edelman to re-launch their shoe business. Giordano became Sam Edelman’s apprentice, and credits much of his success to working with Edelman early on. Wife, Åsa, began her career in Public Relations. She is most noted for her position as PR director for Marc Jacobs. They both went on to Pour La Victoire, and ultimately to own ATELJÉ 71.

ATELJÉ 71 conveys originality, functionality, quality, comfort, fashion, and a great design aesthetic. Faye’s women’s boutiques in Brookfield and Mequon is the only retailer in Wisconsin to carry this stunning line. Come check it out!

Yours in stellar shoes,

Maggie

  Tonsils out, Lounge wear in

I have the joy of getting my tonsils out at the beginning of Februrary! Doc says I am supposed to basically lounge around the house for a week until they are healed. I'm sure my Beagle-Pointer mix, Stanlee, will be loving it. Me, not so much. Although I will be lounging for a week, I still want to look cute doing it! Below are some cute "loungewear" ensambles to wear when you are out for surgery, on a loungey vacation, or at home for an extended period of time.

Wish me luck!

Above: Wilt tee with Anatomie snap leggings

Above: Wilt track pant with Splendid striped tee

A Leather Jacket Goes a Long Way

If I were to pick my single favorite/most useful piece for Fall, it would have to be my Leather Jacket(s).

A leather jacket can be worn so many ways...

1) Throw it over a tee shirt, a pair of jeans, and a cute sneaker

2) Throw it over a tunic, paired with leggings and riding boots

3) Throw it over a sweater dress, pair of tights, and an ankle boot

4) Throw it over a cocktail dress for a dressy-chic look, with a pair of pumps

By the way... Faux OR Real will work!!

Enjoy!!!

My first blog!

Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce myself to those I have not yet met. My name is Maggie Gorchoff and I started at Faye's a little over two months ago. I am absolutely LOVING it here!! A little bit about me- I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago (Deerfield, IL). I graduated from Indiana University (GO HOOSIERS!!!!) in 2012 with an Apparel Merchandising Degree, and a Business minor. You may be asking... why Milwaukee? Well... originally I thought the corporate retail world was for me. After I graduated, I worked at Kohl's Corporate for a year. Kohl's is an amazing company and place to work, but I knew I was not being totally true to myself. I wanted to be in store, up close and personal with all of you=) I am truly so happy here at Faye's.

Since starting here at Faye's, there has been a furry little addition to my household (or... studio apartment). I got a dog! Since I can remember, I have always wanted a dog of my own. Now seemed to be the perfect time. I adopted Stanlee about a month ago, from a shelter in Northbrook, IL. Stan the Man is a four year old Beagle-Pointer mix. I was never a big fan of dressing up a dog, until I got Stanlee. He has three sweaters, and a Down jacket, yes you read that right. (He gets cold!!!) Stan enjoys long walks by the lake, anything that lights up, treats, treats, going to daycare at "Central Bark," hiding under the covers, and his mama's Rebecca Minkoff bag (see picture below). Stanlee has brought so much joy into my life (except for the occasional accident in the kitchen, bathroom, cage, carpet, hallway...) Don't worry, were working on that... Having a dog has truly made me a more responsible, happier, and more caring person. Stanlee (Stan the Man, Mr. Lee)---- you're the best =)
