  Christmas Wedding

I had the privilege to assist my niece, Rachel, in planning her Christmas wedding, which was this last Saturday, December 14, 2013.  It turned out just as we both had hoped – magical.  Her ceremony was a winter wonderland theme.  All the guests held candles and sang Christmas songs, which I cried through.  The reception was equally magical – complete with a Christmas cookie table.  All the tables had birch stumps, tea lights and winter greens. Poinsettias lined the head table which was also draped with snowflake sheers with Christmas lights behind them.   It was a wonderful way to embrace the Christmas spirit and it was worth each moment spent – which by the way we planned in less than six months!  As a mom of two boys – I was so grateful to have the opportunity to be so involved in the planning – from the selecting of the dress, to venue and everything in between.  How blessed I am to have this wonderful girl in my life and that we shared this event so intimately.  Merry Christmas!

  Parenting By Text

Anyone else out there doing this – parenting by text?  I have two boys (18 & 20) away at college – I find the need to send little messages – after all I want to be a good parent – they need reminding right? This last weekend I felt the need to remind everyone to be safe – it’s 10:00 pm – I don have to wait up for anyone – so I’ll send little reminders.  Below is one our latest exchanges:

(Me) Remember how I raised you – be safe. Make good choices.

(My kid)  Mom I don’t want to hurt your feelings but I’m not five years old – I’ve got this – please leave me alone.

(My kid)  Mom you could respond?

(Me)  You told me you got this – I’m leaving you alone.

Isn’t technology grand!
